About Our Organization
The Wise County Toy Run was formed in 1999 to bring hope and joy to kids and families at Christmas time and throughout the year by doing a parade style motorcycle ride from Decatur to Bridgeport, Texas to gather toys and raise money to give, coats, clothes, and other items to families in need. The first year, the Toy Run was able to provide new mattresses to a local children’s home and provided toys, coats, clothes and other items to Wise County Kids and their families who were in need. Since then our organization has grown tremendously and continues to grow each year.
In 2018 Lonestar Charitable Foundation LLC, Non-Profit organization was formed as the parent organization to the Wise County Toy Run. Our mission is still the same, to make sure that our kids do not go without experiencing the love and joy of Christmas, and by helping kids and families not only at Christmas but throughout the year that are affected by other things such as house fires, loss of homes, family violence, medical situations and other needs.
Many of the people of Wise County have known us and see us at Christmas time putting on the Toy Run, but do not realize that we work all year long to help kids and families in need. Throughout the years we have provided scholarships to some of our High School Students, we have provided school supplies, helped families with special needs kids, helped families with children in the hospital, and provided food for families in need. We also partner with others that go into our schools with programs that deal with subjects such as suicide, self harm, cutting, bullying and other things kids are dealing with today.
OUR VISION
To have a community and region where the Physical, Spiritual and Emotional needs of children and their families are met.
Our MISSION
To be the “hands and feet of Christ” in our community and region. To partner with like minded and equally yoked people to provide resources for our children, their families, and people in need in our community and region.
James 2:14 – 17 NLT
What good is it, dear brothers, and sisters, if you say you have faith but don’t show it by your actions? Can that kinds of faith save anyone? Suppose you see a brother or sister who has no food or clothing, and you say “Good-bye and have a good day, stay warm and eat well” but then you don’t give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do? So, you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless.
A VISION THAT HAS TURNED INTO ACTION
It all started with a heart to help others, a Toy Run to provide toys, clothes, and supplies for children and their families, and a vision of a place where we could house people short term through a Ministry Center that would include a facility that could provide emergency housing, a safe place for healing, a place of worship, counseling, and resources to learn and grow emotionally and spiritually to live and enjoy and happy, healthy, fulfilled life.
